Dr Harris is a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist who brings extensive clinical and academic expertise to the treatment of complex mental health conditions. He completed advanced training in forensic psychiatry at Australia's first forensic psychiatric intensive care unit, with specialised training in ADHD, neurodevelopmental disorders, forensic learning disability and managing psychiatric emergencies. This background provides comprehensive skills in assessment, risk evaluation and treatment planning for patients with multiple comorbidities and complex presentations.
Dr Harris provides a thoughtful, evidence-based approach to mental health care and is known for his compassionate engagement with clients and collaborative communication with referring practitioners. His deep commitment understanding neurodiversity, trauma and resilience enables him to help individuals navigate complex psychological and emotional challenges. His trauma informed approach integrates medical, psychological and socio-environmental factors to deliver personalised treatment plans.
Working as part of Advance Healthcare's multidisciplinary team, Dr Harris collaborates closely with physiotherapists, psychologists and other specialists. He works with our expert allied health team to augment medical services with individual and group DBT as well as EMDR services to further support patients. He maintains regular communication with referring practitioners and provides detailed written reports following consultations to ensure coordinated care.
